In the three countries where a survey was carried out, “average age at first sexual encounter for teenagers is 15 years old.” Yet, their parents didn’t even know about it.

A lady said that her mother warned her that the day a man touches her, that that is the day she will get pregnant. So what did she do? She simply avoid a man’s touch or any contact with a man by all means.

Another lady said that her father always warned her since she turned 14 that the day she gets pregnant is the last day she will spend in his house.  The old man threatened that he will throw her out. She started wondering “How does a girl get pregnant. Her curiosity was let loose and she went on an adventure of discovery…

Tip from this report.

YOUR CHILD IS LEARNING FROM A WILD TEACHER.

Chioma turned thirteen in July. Already, she feels a butterfly sensation in her stomach when touched by members of the opposite sex. She has two painful lumps developing into round molded flesh against her chest, and she has become more mindful of how she behaves and sways her hips when boys are around.

She is close to her mom. They talk about many things; from what they will cook for daddy to the trivial issues of Christmas clothes and a new movie in the cinema. But mother never talks about the physical changes in Chioma’s body. Did she not see it? Did she not notice the roundness of her breasts, the smooth curve of her waist, and the fact that she has been complaining of abdominal pain at regular monthly intervals?

Yes. Mother saw it, but she believed that the more ignorant Chioma is about the changes in her body, the more innocent she would remain. Mother believed that talking about sexuality to Chioma could cause promiscuity. Even when her period first came, it was not the mother who noticed.

Sure, the menstrual cycle and its importance had been taught in school time and again. But for Chioma, most of what the teacher said was just mumble jumble. And in all that jumble, there was never a time when it was mentioned that the monthly cycle had to hurt terribly.

Surprisingly, Chioma still talked to mom about her passion for denim tops, but there were more important issues cropping up and they did not talk about them.

Chioma had tried a few times to bring up the discussion, but she had always met a brick wall with 5 words written on it– “This is Not the Time”.
